Welcome to the Now Play This Community Forum!
One of the things I've enjoyed most about festivals like Now Play This is the opportunity to have conversations with many different people – people who have found their way into this field of experimental game design and playful art from a whole range of backgrounds, bringing their own unique ways of playing and thinking about play along with them. At their best, festivals can be magical spaces where new connections, projects and friendships emerge through chance encounters and shared experiences.
It's always sad when a festival is over and conversations move back into social media land. Personally, I've mostly given up on social media for mental health reasons. And as a political project, it would be great to move more of our communication tools back into the communities themselves.
So with the pandemic shifting yet another Now Play This edition online, we thought it would be a good moment to give an old-school forum a try! We imagine this as a friedly place for people to have conversations and exchange links and material around experimental game design and playful art. We've set up a few basic categories we think might be usefull - these will probably evolve over time.
Here's how it works:
- create an account & upload a profile pic
- if you want, introduce yourself in the intros section
- start a new "Discussion" or reply to existing threads
- have fun and respect our community guidlines
PS: We're using an open source tool called Flarum.org. We've deactivated a lot of features, inculding the option to "like" other people's posts. If you like something, how about writing a comment describing what you like about it?
